Iredell County is northwest of Charlotte and is bordered by Rowan, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Lincoln, Catawba, Alexander, Wilkes, Yadkin and Davie counties. It is conveniently located near I-77 and I-40. Lake Norman, the nation's largest manmade lake, is in the southwest portion of the county. The six incorporated towns include: Statesville (county seat), Harmony, Love Valley, Mooresville, Troutman and Union Grove.

Iredell County remains one of the largest agricultural counties in North Carolina and is the leading producer of breeder chicks in the world. Tobacco, grains, hay, and cotton are important crops to this county and it is also home to many U.S. and international manufacturing companies. While Iredell County may have a small town atmosphere, it offers the best of both worlds and there are numerous upscale communities situated on and near Lake Norman.

Mooresville, the 2^nd largest city in the county, called the 'Port City' because of its location on Lake Norman.It is also referred to as 'Race City U.S.A.' which is the city's official logo because it is home to numerous auto racing teams and racing drivers, as well as the N.C. Auto Hall of Fame.

Each year, thousands of people come to Mooresville to visit the race shops, antique stores, Carrigan Farms, the 22,000 sq. ft. Citizens Center, and the Depot Visual Arts Center. In September, huge crowds are drawn to the Iredell County Fairgrounds in Troutman to see skies fill with hot air balloons at The National Balloon Rally. Another popular attraction is Love Valley, a replica of a Wild West town where horses outnumber cars and the community hosts rodeos. For music lovers, Fiddler's Grove Campground near Union Grove, draws thousands each Memorial Weekend to its Music Mountain Festival.

For those who don't live on the lake, but want to enjoy the many recreational opportunities, visit Duke Power State Park near Troutman. You can enjoy fishing, camping, hiking, swimming and boating here. There are also other public access areas in Iredell County include Hager Creek (Exit 33), McCrary Creek, Pinnacle and Stumpy Creek (off N.C. 150).
