Centrally located along the northern border of South Carolina, Lancaster is 39 miles south of Uptown Charlotte, 50 miles north of Columbia, SC, three hours from the North Carolina mountains, two hours from the shores of Myrtle Beach, SC, conveniently located off Hwy 521, and within easy access of I-77 and I-485. If you need to fly, you can choose from the Lancaster County Municipal Airport, with one of the longest non-commercial runways in the region, or take an easy drive to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Lancaster County is comprised of three incorporated communities: Lancaster, Kershaw, and Heath Springs, as well as a number of smaller areas within the county. Over the past few years, the population has grown significantly due to the county's quality of life, low cost of living and accessibility. While the textile industry remains the mainstay of this county, new businesses and industries are making Lancaster County their home every day.
Lancaster County is rich in history and abounds with landmarks of historical significance. It boasts over 20 sites in the National Register of Historic Places, as well as two national landmarks: the Lancaster County Courthouse and the old Lancaster County jail.
