Town of Lincolnton - (pop. 10,155)
One of North Carolina's best-kept secrets
is Lincoln County, located just 28 miles northwest of Charlotte.
It is one of the fastest-growing counties in the region due
to its proximity to Charlotte and Lake Norman and is easily
accessible from U.S. 321, connecting to 1-85 to the south
and 1-40 to the north. 1-77 is 20 minutes east of Lincolnton
and NC Highways 16, 73 and 150 make it even easier to travel.
The Charlotte-Douglas International Airport is 45 minutes
southeast of Lincolnton; the Lincoln County Airport is convenient
for business and pleasure travelers.
The Town of Lincolnton is the only incorporated
town within the county. Smaller unincorporated areas include:
Boger City, Catawba Springs, Crouse, Denver, Howard's Creek, Ironton, Iron Station,
Lowesville, Northbrook, Vale and Westport.
One thing is for certain, you'll never
lack for something to do in Lincoln County. In addition to
the lure of Lake Norman, which offers a wide variety of activities
including camping, fishing, and boating, the Appalachian Mountains
are a short drive west. The county also has 23 historic sites
listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The City of Lincolnton has maintained
its small town charm while providing residents and visitors
with big city opportunities. This community is rich in cultural
arts and includes the Lincoln Theatre Guild, Arts Council,
Historical Association, Community Concerts Association, Choral
Guild, and a chapter of the North Carolina Symphony Association.
It is also a popular destination for pottery and antique browsers.
Lincolnton has been the host of historical
celebrations and community theater productions, literary,
art, and photography competitions, North Carolina Symphony
concerts, Broadway entertainers, and regional and local performers.
The City of Lincolnton also features Marcia Cloninger Rail-Trail,
providing walkers, bikers, joggers and cyclists with a place
to enjoy the outdoors. This trail connects the city's two
parks, as well as a regional trail network. Residents and
visitors also enjoy numerous concerts, holiday festivities,
and festivals. Each Fall, the Apple Festival draws over 40,000
visitors. All these amenities are what make this county such
a special place to live.
