York County (South Carolina) is located just across the North Carolina line from Charlotte and is 75 miles north of Columbia, SC. York County has become a fast growing area, due, in part, to the residential and commercial development moving southward from Charlotte along I-77. York County has the small town charm with the advantages of a big city; the cost of living in this county ranks as one of the lowest in the southeast.

There are nine municipalities within York County: Clover, Fort Mill, Hickory Grove, McConnells, Rock Hill, Sharon, Smyrna, Tega Cay and York (county seat). The City of Rock Hill is the commercial and financial center and home to Winthrop University and York Technical College.
